This morning we left Billings around 11 a.m. for a long day of driving. We saw lots of hay bales and buttes. We were glad to enter North Dakota. It meant the end of our journey was approaching. We took a quick break at the rest area at the Painted Canyon. It was beautiful! The signs posted warned us that bison were dangerous and not to approach them. False advertising. We didn't see a single one. Bummer! Once we got to Fargo, we picked up our car and transferred all of the items from the back of the Suburban. A quick trip to the airport to drop off the Suburban, and we were back on the road. The trip from Fargo to Grand Rapids was tough. We were very tired, but kept talking to stay awake. We came up with a list of the "bests" we encountered on our trip. I'll post them later because the list is in Ron's head and he's not here. It was ironic that on our trip we saw lots of "deer warning" signs, and we never saw any (while driving), but when we got to MN, there were no signs, but we saw lots of deer. Thank goodness they all stayed in the ditches! It was wonderful to drive up our driveway and see our house at 1:45 a.m. Liz and Ronnie were waiting up for us. The house looked terrific and the mail was all organized and ready for us. They did a great job without us - I don't know if that makes me feel good or not!
