The ride from Amarillo to Colorado, via New Mexico, was beautiful. Where Texas had deep canyons and gorges, New Mexico had buttes and hills. We got behind a cattle truck and a truck for our first "traffic jam" of the trip. Luckily, it didn't last long. It was neat to see the mule deer and the antelope. We pulled over to get the pictures. None of the animals seemed real concerned about us being there, letting us take quite a few pictures before moving on.
