July 21 - entering Colorado to the Royal Gorge

This set of pictures was taken after we crossed the Colorado border. Just after the border, there was a sign for a scenic overlook. We decided to stop and get a couple of photos because the ones taken from the window as we're driving by aren't always clear. Well, imagine the amazement we felt when we looked down and saw a bear. We watched it for a few minutes and then to our surprise, first one cub and then another joined her. What a cool sight! We watched them and took a lot of photos for about 15 minutes. The photos are taken with the biggest lens I have at it's maximum zoom. I have also cropped them so the bears are easier to see, but that does make the pictures a little fuzzy. Ron figures they were about 600 yards away. They were in no hurry, just walking slowly and eating something from the ground (ants?). If we didn't have a schedule to keep, I think we would have stayed there for as long as they were there. The gun store picture reminded us of Grandpa Glenn. :)
