This morning, Ron and I got up early (5 a.m.) and drove to the Garden of the Gods. We got there just as it was beginning to get light. There are trails in and around the area, some dirt and rocky and some sidewalks. As the sun rises, the rocks facing the sun glow. Everywhere we turned there was a new and even more beautiful sight. We hiked for about an hour and a half. Along with seeing the huge rock formations, we also saw many jackrabbits and three deer. The first two deer we saw as we walked along a narrow path cut through the rocks and trees. The last one (the buck) we saw just as we were leaving the area and almost back to the parking lot. He was busy eating a bush and didn’t seem to care that we were there (only about 6 feet away). It was a beautiful and peaceful way to spend the morning. We went back to our hotel, packed up, and were on the road by 8:00 a.m. headed for Cheyenne, Wyoming where Ron had a Reserve Center to visit. After we left Cheyenne, we headed for Salt Lake City. Today and tomorrow will both be long days of driving. I’ll post when I can.
